Welcome to Positive Link
Welcome to Positive Link, a program of the Minnesota AIDS Project for gay and bi men living with HIV. We are pleased to showcase the first phase of our new look and website, featuring information about the program, staff, sexually transmitted infections and an up–to–date calendar of Positive Link activities. In the near future we hope to bring you more information about sexual health and leading a healthy lifestyle as a person living with HIV. We welcome all constructive feedback. Please with your comments.

Good morning all,
I hope everyone is doing well and had a great weekend. There are a couple of activities coming up that I’d like to tell you about and invite you to attend. But first, starting Thursday, February 16 until Monday February 27, I will be out of the office. During that time, if you have immediate needs please contact the AIDS Line at 612.373.2437 or if it is something that can wait until I get back you can leave a message on my voice mail.
On Wednesday, February 29 at 6 p.m. at the MAP office 1400 Park Ave in Minneapolis, is a presentation on HIV and Meds: Adherence, Side Effects and Starting Treatment. We have Marcus Wilson from Janssen Pharmaceutical, coming that evening to talk with us about starting meds, adherence to those meds and some of the possible side effects. If you have questions about any of these topics, this would be the perfect venue to get those questions answered. We will be serving dinner that evening, so if you plan on attending please let me know, so we may plan accordingly. During the time I am out of the office, please contact the AIDS Line at 612.373.2437 to RSVP for this educational presentation.
The SHIELD program at MAP is an exciting way for guys who are current or former substance users to help stop the spread of HIV by becoming Peer Educators. It’s a small group that meets for an hour and a half, twice a week for three weeks. You’ll learn about ways that you can help people that you already know make safer decisions and avoid getting or transmitting HIV. As a Peer Educator, you’ll get safer sex supplies and access to risk reduction tools that you can give out to your friends, neighbors, family, and other people in your social networks. You’ll also get $50 in gift cards just for attending, and bus or gas cards to help you get to the program. For more information or to sign up, call Ryan at (612) 373-2434, or e-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
That’s what the Positive Link calendar looks like for the end of February. If you have questions or would like to RSVP to this presentation, remember to call the AIDS Line at 612.373.2437. If you would like to be removed from this confidential email list, let me know and I’ll take care of that for you. Talk with you soon.
